Introducing agility to Central Government’s largest ever RPO project

Manpower recently led the UK's largest Recruitment Process Outsourcing project for Central Government to help them release 8,890 Manager days over a nine month period, reduce their time to hire by 4 weeks and improve the candidate experience. Within 7 working days of appointment we started our first assessment centres which, over a nine month period, would see us process 30,000 applications and face to face interview and access at over 180 UK locations.

Our delivery response was made up of the following critical elements:

National Response Centre: We managed all candidate engagements from a contact centre operation, which allowed us to access more applications as a result of wider opening hours and multiple phone lines.

Rapid Response Team: We developed a core team of nationally flexible, experienced Consultants who could be deployed swiftly to areas of highest demand.

National Training Rollout: We designed a bespoke training accreditation model to ensure that all staff deployed on the project had the core competencies required to succeed.

Project Management: We installed a multifunctional project team to manage the logistics associated with sourcing premises and couriering confidential candidate data across the UK.

The contract evolved throughout its duration and the volumes fluctuated daily. The requirements also significantly changed as we went from just interviewing to conducting assessment centres for all candidates as well – vastly changing the property requirements. It therefore required mobilisation of resource and identification and booking of venues across the UK on a daily and weekly basis.  In terms of the volumes at the quietest periods we were conducting approximately 7 assessment centres a week and at peak more than 50.
