Special Health Authority in the NHS

The Special Health Authority's remit includes the provision of a reliable and efficient supply to local hospitals, leading to a need for specially trained drivers who can be called on within the hour to collect or deliver their life-saving consignments.

Staff available within the hour

The client has a dedicated, ongoing and very time-specific public contact programme, and as part of our service we must provide a replacement driver should a member of their staff be absent at short notice. This means the work is always ad hoc. Some days it may require four of our drivers, others none at all. And the drivers must all be available at very short notice.

Reliable candidates

The key to solving this problem was finding the right candidates. We recruited a pool of semi-retired local people who only wanted part-time, temporary work and were willing to respond to a call for work immediately.

Specialist training

We trained these candidates in the Special Health Authority's practices. Not only did we brief them at the interview stage of selection and ensure they sign their checklist detailing the content covered, they’re also able to help the nurses set up and dismantle equipment during the public contact programme.

100% fulfilment

As a result, our drivers are an integral part of the Special Health Authority. Productivity is guaranteed, and in more than 10 years of working together, we have filled 100% of orders.
